Decorating your Home for the Holidays
by Kristyne McDaniel
Few families decorate for each and every family. In fact, the two main holidays families do usually decorate to commemorate are Christmas and Halloween.
Increasing the number of holidays for which decorations are hung can be a fun and interesting project for everyone. Children love to make things that will be prominently displayed. And the number of holidays for which these decorations can be made is large. Think about these major holidays celibrated in the United States, and what you can do to create decorations for them:
- Valentine's Day
- St. Patrick's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
There are other holidays as well that children love to decorate for and do other things to commemorate:
- Columbus Day
- President's Day
- Martin Luther King's Birthday
- Mother's Day
- Father's Day
- Flag Day
- Summer Solstace
- Winter Solstace
- Spring Equinox
- Fall Equinox
I'm sure you can think of many more holidays, and ways to recycle decorations from one holiday to another. Memories are made of things like this. Create family memories that will last!
- Patriotic Theme
Are you hard core red, white, and blue? If so, then your country needs you to stand up and present your true colors to the world. This can be easily accomplished by celebrating everything American with your home decorating plans. Believe it or not patriotic is the thing to be in post 9-11 America and the way you decorate your home can let the world know exactly where your true convictions lie.
- Christmas Decorating
Christmas is the one time of year that most people pull out all the stops when it comes to decorating. There is no such thing in the eyes of many as excess and the one who gets started last is the one who often finishes last.
- Thanksgiving Decorating
Thanksgiving takes place during the autumn season, which makes it an ideal time to decorate in the splendid colors of fall. These colors are not the bright colors that represent spring and summer or the sparking colors that epitomize Christmas but the colors of nature once she has seasoned and matured a bit.
- Halloween Decorating
Decorating for Halloween can be almost as fun as going out and begging for candy any day of the week.
